The academy was the primary center of research for new technologies for the Confederate Marine Corps, seeking to improve the quality of its personnel.[1] Despite this, it appears the academy was looked on with dread by some soldiers, raising questions about its true nature.[2]

It was used by the United Earth Directorate for equipping medics.[3]

Development[]

During the StarCraft alpha, the academy served as an add-on for the barracks.[4] During the StarCraft beta, a structure named the "ChemLab" had the same model as the academy, which allowed for the production of better spaceships.[5]

The building does not appear in StarCraft II, its functions taken by the tech lab.[6]

Notes[]

  • The yell heard in the academy's sound file is the Howie scream, a common stock yell used in many media sources.
