Alien artifacts are strange artifacts somehow associated with the return of the xel'naga.[1]
"Recently" as of 2505 the Terran Dominion became interested in acquiring these artifacts[2] and banned trade in "alien goods" in order to control access to them.[3]
Alien artifacts could be found on Mar Sara,[3] Jotun,[1] and Monlyth.[4]
Many are guarded by fanatical protoss which remained behind to guard them after the rest of their kind "bugged out".[4]
