The Argus crystal is a mysterious substance used by the xel'naga for various purposes and by the Dark Templar to build up extra energy.
Xel'naga Relics[]
The xel'naga used an Argus crystal as part of the "prison" for an extremely powerful entity based in the Void. A Moebius Foundation telepath, using a psionic amplifier, used her energies to release the creature, calling it the "lock" for the prison. A Dark Templar named Xy'tal tried to use the crystal to re-seal it.[1]

Trivia[]
Argus is the name of a world in Blizzard's Warcraft series. The word argus is derived from the Greek argos, and both have been used as the names of various locations, objects, and beings in Greek mythology.
Argus crystals are used by the Dark Templar in a manner similar to how the Khalai use khaydarin crystals to enhance the psionic potential of their forces. While the Dark Templar have access to khaydarin crystals as well, it would seem that argus crystals are somehow preferable to khaydarin crystals for use in their technology.
