Buford is a vespene gas miner of the Kel-Morian Combine who worked at Borgo Refinery. He would write letters to his mother, who would send him fruitcake. In one letter, he talked about the arrival of two new unfriendly miners, who were secret undercover agents of the Koprulu Liberation Front. Buford decided it was best to keep his distance from them.
