The Citadel of the Executor (or Executor's Citadel) was the floating headquarters of the commanders of the Templar Caste.
It was situated in Antioch[1] and connected to a xel'naga temple by the "Road of Remembrance".[2]
History[]
In the early stages of the war, it was the site of many councils between protoss commanders, namely Aldaris, Fenix and Artanis. It was here that the planning was carried out for the relief of Antioch,[3] the strike on a zerg cerebrate[4] and the reclamation of Scion.[5]
The Citadel remained in protoss hands even after the destruction of the Overmind. It was here that Aldaris, Zeratul, Artanis, Jim Raynor and the executor decided to evacuate Aiur for Shakuras.[6]
It was destroyed in the aftermath of the evacuation. Its ruins were used as a refuge for the Shel'na Kryhas, protoss refugees stranded after the evacuation of Aiur. However, by 2503 the group had been all but wiped out.[2]
During the End War, the Daelaam resorted to destroying Aiur's psi-matrix to prevent Amon from instantly warping the Golden Armada to Aiur to reinforce his troops as the Daelaam assaulted the planet. One of the power conduits stabilizing the matrix was located in the ruins of the Citadel of the Executor, now overrun with zerg. Nerazim Matriarch Vorazun and Tal'darim Highlord Alarak fought through the zerg and destroyed the conduit.[7]
Notes[]
The citadel appears as a contestable territory in RISK: StarCraft. However, in the game, it is located in Aiur's northwestern hemisphere,[8] in a region north of Velari Province.[9] This contrasts with information from Shadow Hunters, where it is stated to be located over Antioch,[2] which according to RISK, is in Aiur's southeastern hemisphere.[8] The mission "Templar's Return" in StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void places the citadel in Antioch.[10]
