The Confederate Intelligence Corps (CIC) was a branch of the Terran Confederacy's military, specializing in information gathering. It was also associated with military research projects carried out in covert ops centers.[1]
There is evidence that the Corps may have been aware of and were monitoring protoss transmissions even before official first contact was made over Chau Sara.[2] Certainly the Confederacy seemed to be acutely aware of the name of the aliens at the time of their attack.[3]
It is also known that elements of the Corps were present at Mar Sara, reporting on the original zerg extermination at Oasis Station, though did not account for the zerg's return.[4]
