Coolant towers were buildings found on the orbital platform Char Aleph. They were still operational, despite the zerg infestation, keeping the core temperatures stable.[1]

Generator and coolant tower destroyed by an explosion
Raynor's Raiders attacked the platforms and destroyed each of four coolant towers and their generators in order to cripple the zerg air support. Each time a coolant tower was destroyed, the individual platform blew up shortly thereafter.[1]
