Revision as of 17:57, 28 August 2019

Creep colonies are zerg structures used to extend creep. Colonies have to be established on pre-existing creep.

A creep colony can evolve into defensive structures: the sunken colony for ground defense, or the spore colony for air defense and detection.[1]

Development

The following section contains information from a previous version of StarCraft which is no longer valid.

In some builds of the StarCraft beta, the name "spore colony" was used for the creep colony's sprite.[2]

The creep colony's sprite previously had the placeholder name "Fcolony,"[3] possibly referring to the fungal colony.

StarCraft II

The following section contains information from a previous version of StarCraft II which is no longer valid.
CreepColony SC2 DevGame1

The creep colony in StarCraft II

At some point, creep colonies were present in the game engine of StarCraft II.[4]

However, the creep colony was replaced by the creep tumor, and the defenses with the spine crawler and the spore crawler respectively.
