The dark pylon is a type of protoss structure that appears in Legacy of the Void. The word has previously been applied to the monolith and obelisk.
Overview[]
The following section contains information from StarCraft II that is ambiguously canonical.
|
The Dark Templar have their own version of the pylon in the form of the dark pylon. As circumstances grow increasingly dire for the protoss, the dark pylon has entered general use for the protoss alongside the regular pylon.[1]
Game Structure[]
Dark pylons can be found in the single-player campaign in the missions "The Growing Shadow" and "Amon's Reach." They are called "void pylons" and provide supply and power, but have no other effects over normal pylons beyond increased health and shields.
Co-op Missions[]
Dark pylons can be warped in by players that choose Vorazun in Co-op Missions. In addition to granting power and psi akin to a regular pylon, dark pylons cloak friendly units and structures nearby. When Vorazun reaches level 11, they can also Recall friendly units. Vorazun is unable to build dark pylons with probes; she must warp them in as a calldown. Dark pylons cannot cloak each other.[2]
Abilities[]
