Ultralisk SC2 Game3

In development, the omegalisk was a previous version of the ultralisk.[1] As with the modern omegalisk, the ultralisk was larger and could swing its scythes individually when attacking.

Patch 11 increased the ultralisk's damage from 18 to 25. Patch 13 decreased their HP from 600 to 450, changed the damage of their regular attack to 15 (+25 vs. Armored), and changed the splash damage to deal less damage in far range. The ultralisk's "Ram" auto-attack, which performed a headbutt on a single building, had its damage increased from 60 to 75. Patch 14 removed the Anabolic Synthesis upgrade and increased the ultralisk's speed from 2.25 to 2.9531. Their HP increased from 450 to 500. Patch 16 added the Frenzied passive to ultralisks, making them immune to stuns and mind control. Their splash radius increased from 1.5 to 2.5 and from 90° to 180° in front of the ultralisk.

The Ram attack was removed in version 1.1 of the game because it generally was less useful than the normal attack.[5] The bonus damage vs. Armored for their regular attack was also decreased from 25 to 20, and Frenzied received a new icon. Patch 1.1.1 fixed an issue where the ultralisk'a cleave range was being unintentionally extended by larger targets. Patch 1.4 decreased the ultralisk's build time from 70 seconds to 55.

Burrow Assault[6]

This ability allows ultralisks to quickly (speed 3.75)[7] tunnel underground and charge forward to resurface in the midst of battle. This is to combat ultralisks being unable to get into battle due to their size or other units being in their way.[8] Vision to the attacked area is not necessary.[9]

It seems to deal damage when the ultralisk emerges from the ground.[10]

Ultralisks gained the Burrow Charge ability during the beta. Balance Update 7 increased Burrow Charge's speed from 2.25 to 3.75. This ability was removed by December 2012 in Balance Update 8.[12] This patch also changed the ultralisk's damage to a flat 35.[12]

During development, the ultralisk had lost the Frenzied passive.[13] This ability was regained by the beta. The Patch 2.1.2 Balance Update modified Frenzied to block movement-altering abilities.

Legacy of the Void[]

Patch 2.5 increased the armor bonus of Chitinous Plating from +2 to +4. Patch 3.8 reverted this and increased the ultralisk's base armor from 1 to 2.

Patch 4.7.1 readded the Anabolic Synthesis upgrade with a 42 research time cost, increasing the ultralisk's speed when off creep from 4.13 to 4.55 and giving the ultralisk visual indicators to show that they have the upgrade. Patch 4.8.2 increased the speed bonus from 0.41 to 0.82.
