The firebat was set to return in StarCraft II, but was canceled during development.[1] They were added in September 2007;[2] by January 2008, they were replaced by the marauder.[3] It was found that their role overlapped with hellions.[4]
Firebats were produced from a factory, as they had bigger, more powerful suits that gave them a greater ability to withstand enemy fire,[5] which granted them more hit points.[6] They could still fit into bunkers[7] and could be healed by medics.[8] They cost 100 minerals and 50 gas, had a build time of 40, had 90 HP, and dealt 6 (+6 vs Light) damage x2.[9]
Firebats once had a "Bearclaw Nozzle" upgrade,[10] later renamed Incinerator Gauntlets.
The firebat appears in the singleplayer campaigns.
