Helena DuGalle was the wife of Gerard DuGalle and a citizen in the United Earth Directorate. By the time Gerard had been sent to the Koprulu Sector, he and Helena had several children.
After being defeated by Kerrigan, the UED Expeditionary Fleet fled towards Earth. During the retreat, Gerard typed out a farewell letter to Helena before promptly committing suicide, which detailed the defeat of the UED and revealed the truth about Alexei Stukov's death, the latter of which weighed heavily on him. The letter did not reach Helena, however, as the zerg pursued and annihilated the UED fleet.[1]
