The Hive is the key that unlocks the final stages of Zerg evolution. It continues to provid the same functionality that it has since it was a Hatchery (birthing Larvae, maintains Creep, and digesting minerals\gas). It can mutate any of the same upgrades it could when it was a Hatchery or Lair (Burrow, Ventral Sacs, Antennae, and Pneumatized Carapace) if they have not been researched yet. Once the Hive is present, the Cerebrate commanding it has the potential to unleash the full fury of the Zerg.
