Jenson Archimedes was a Terran Dominion scientist. He called himself Head Counsel to Emperor Arcturus Mengsk.[1]
Biography[]
Quest for the Stone[]
Archmedes was put in charge of the Dominion expedition to Aridas, tasked with acquiring the powerful artifact, the Argus stone.[1]
Archimedes concluded that there were multiple xel'naga ruins on Aridas. However, the military situation had turned dire against the Aridians, especially since a zerg cerebrate had somehow taken control of a protoss tribe using xel'naga technology. Archimedes wanted to capture it for further study, but this would not prevent the zerg from fighting the terrans.[2]
Archimedes was exploring a huge cavern beneath excavation sites when he was captured by the zerg. They surrounded his science vessel with minions. He was able to contact the Dominion forces and request a rescue, which was successful. Archimedes told the Dominion commander he would let the emperor know of his courage.[3]
Archimedes located the Argus stone on the far side of Aridas, protected by numerous protoss tribes.[1] The protoss, in a last-ditch effort to protect and use the stone, placed it within a temple they had warped in from Aiur, which would focus the energies of the stone. Archimedes' forces shattered the temple, defeating the protoss. Archimedes picked up the stone, putting it on his science vessel.[4]
Losing the Stone[]
In an effort to recover the stone, the Zerg Crusaders destroyed Archimedes' battlecruiser escort, then pursued him through multiple Dominion bases.[5] The zerg captured some of his allies, infesting them in order to gain information on Archimedes' whereabouts.[6][7] The zerg eventually stole the stone from Dominion forces.[8]
Game Unit[]
Abilities[]
The Defensive Matrix absorbs 250 points of damage from all damage type. The shield is not perfect; some damage will "leak" and reduce the unit's HP by 0.5 per hit.
Matrixes count as having priority over shields, so health will appear to go down first on Protoss units.
Successive casts on the same unit do not stack, but replace any old Matrix with the new one.

Reduces the hit points of biological units near the targeted unit (and the targeted unit itself if it is biological) by 250 over 25 seconds. (Deals 3.33 damage in 8-frames intervals, resulting in 75 damage instances over 600 frames.)
Mechanical units are immune, but biological units within 2 hex radius of an irradiated mechanical unit will still be affected.
Damage from multiple instances of Irradiate fully stack.

Notes[]
- Archimedes shares his surname with the famous Ancient Greek scientist, Archimedes.
- Archimedes claimed that he spent years studying the protoss and their relationship to the Xel'Naga. This contradicts the official timeline as first contact between terrans and protoss did not occur until the events of the the First Great War only a few months prior.
