Jump-pods are a technology outfitted to terran battlecruisers. They serve as an escape pod in case the ship is destroyed, and can hold a fairly large compliment.
When the Hoosier was destroyed by mutalisks during the evacuation of Mar Sara, sixty-three terrans, including Breg Shaw, escaped in a jump-pod, and were picked up four days later.[1]
