Keys was a scion for the Old Families of the Terran Confederacy.
After the fall of Tarsonis in 2500, Keys accompanied the four children of the Old Families, Antonia Tygore, Morgan Calabas, Rockham Kusinis and Bess Kusinis, from Tyrador VIII to a Confederate refuge on Shi. However, the Terran Dominion planted a zerg drone on the planet, and the Confederates were forced to retreat into Drill Site #3. Keys manned one of the BDE-1600 mining laser drills against the zerg alongside Dhupal and Roderick, but the three failed to account for how quickly the drill's plasma chambers overheated. They were forced to wait for the systems to recharge as they were overrun and devoured by the rampaging zerg.
