Korlendir was a former Templar, stranded during the Fall of Aiur. He eventually became a member of the Tal'darim and was addicted to Sundrop.

When influential member Alzadar revealed that their Benefactor was, in fact, a dark archon, Korlendir abandoned him with numerous other Tal'darim, and survived to flee through Aiur's warp gate to Shakuras.

The protoss there broke his addiction to Sundrop, but he was left feeling confused. He still felt some loyalty to the Benefactor. He drifted to the xel'naga temple and made contact with Taarim, one of its tenders. He became a guardian of the temple, which would give him access to deep secrets... and also smelled something familiar.[1]
