Lance Messner was a marine private in Raynor's Raiders. Roughly two months after the Fall of Tarsonis, he found himself on the surface of Char, remaining with a shuttle. He saw zerg in a crevice below, prompting Raynor's force to descend into underground tunnels.
Battling his way through the zerg alongside the Raiders, Messner eventually fell victim to a pack of zerglings, literally being ripped apart. He was shot by Sergeant Lisa Mannix in an effort to relieve his pain.[1]
