Lava on Redstone III

Lava is viscous liquid made of molten rock.

Game Effect[]

StarCraft[]

Lava appears on maps as unpassable terrain and doodads and has no gameplay effect.

StarCraft II[]

Lava takes a more dynamic role in certain missions, where it may rise and fall to flood low-lying areas of the map. Units caught in surges are destroyed.

In the Wings of Liberty mission, "The Devil's Playground," lava surges impede resource gathering. The richest mineral nodes are on low ground. The mission achievement, "Red Lobster", requires the brutalisk to be killed by lava surge on normal difficulty.[1]

In the Wings of Liberty mission, "Belly of the Beast," the last part is an escape from rising lava.[2]

In the mission from Co-op Missions, "The Vermillion Problem," lava surges occur constantly and impide the allied commanders to attack several enemy locations, once the lava falls low, xenon crystals are revealed and are available to be collected by a worker to finish the mission. Lava surges also can hit air units that travel over them through lava spouts.[3]

Note[]

The "god mode" cheat provides immunity from lava.
