Maggs was a reporter for one of the local dailies for Mar Sara. During the Confederate evacuation of the planet, he situated himself outside the Grand Hotel, gossiping with fellow reporters. He believed that the aliens who had destroyed Chau Sara were not aliens at all, but rather humans from Earth. He theorized that they had become so wrapped up in genetic purity that they had become nothing but clones and therefore traveled to the Koprulu Sector to clear out the rest of their race. Clearly, he was wrong.
