The riot in New Canaan

New Canaan is a city located on Tyrador IX.

History

In 2502,[1] a riot occurred within the city, protesters voicing their dissent against the Terran Dominion. Through gunfire, the Dominion Marine Corps was able to disperse the crowd.

After the End War, New Canaan found itself under siege by zerg controlled by the Cerberus Program. A reaper, taking the long way around to avoid a dust storm, first noticed the oncoming zerg, but the Knights of Tyrador thought the illuminated hydralisk eyes were the headlights of returning dune buggies, and were caught off guard. The city had its defenses battered and smashed as their banshee and viking forces were quickly destroyed, and ravagers battered their lines.

Salvation came in the form of the Ihan-rii, the former inhabitants of Tyrador IX. They engaged the Cerberus zerg just as the city was ready to fall.[2]

Trivia

The city is possibly named after the Land of Canaan, an ancient term for a region encompassing present-day Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, plus adjoining coastal lands and parts of Jordan, Egypt and Syria.
