Ocular implants are terran cybernetic devices. Through "radical" surgery, the subject's eye(s) are replaced with these implants, increasing their range of sight dramatically.
Ghosts are known to undergo such surgery, implants used to increase their effectiveness as covert operatives. In Starcraft, ocular implants are researchable for ghosts at a Terran Covert Ops, one of the add-ons for a Terran Science Facility. This upgrade increases a ghost's sight range, and without it a ghost will inevitably be killed by his own Nuclear Missile.
