The omegalisk is a zerg heavy assault strain in the same vein as the ultralisk but substantially larger. It was the ultralisk concept for StarCraft II but ended up as a special campaign unit.

History

An omegalisk was used to defend the tunnels beneath Char which housed Infested Kerrigan's nydus network.

Zeratul observed omegalisks in an apocalyptic vision of the future on the eve of the Second Great War. The creatures were part of a Dark Voice-controlled Zerg Swarm that annihilated the protoss during their last stand.

Game Unit

In the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty mission, "In Utter Darkness", an omegalisk is located in each of the three zerg bases. No research points are awarded for killing them (but are counted in the kill score).

One appears in "Belly of the Beast", attacking destructible rocks which Dominion marines hide behind.

Development

The omegalisk

The omegalisk was a concept for the ultralisk in StarCraft II. It had spiked tentacles in addition to kaiser blades. The tentacles could attack multiple opponents.

The ultralisk tentacles were reverted because the skewering was too "random".
