Psychic boosters[1] (a.k.a. psionic boosters) are protoss devices installed on ships to allow long range psionic communication.[2] It is through these that protoss commanders can send telepathic messages on a wide scale in a manner similar to a terran radio, able to sense the recipients' reaction(s) to his/her message. Broadcasts from the booster are received by psychic communication loops, which are interwoven into the hulls of protoss ships.

It portable psychic boosters were also used by the protoss, and were small, cylinder-like objects that could be hanged from a waist sash.[3] These devices can send messages throughout an entire fleet simultaneously and cannot be intercepted by enemy forces.[1] They were used for more mundane purposed by the protoss, such as boosting their psionic signals to communicate with psionic terrans over long ranges.[3]
