Psychic boosters[1] (a.k.a. psionic boosters) are protoss devices installed on ships to allow long range psionic communication.[2] It is through these that protoss commanders can send telepathic messages on a wide scale in a manner similar to a terran radio, able to sense the recipients' reactions to his/her message. Broadcasts from the booster are received by psychic communication loops, which are interwoven into the hulls of protoss ships.

Portable psychic boosters are also used by the protoss, and are small, cylinder-like objects that can be hung from a waist sash.[3] These devices can send messages throughout an entire fleet simultaneously and cannot be intercepted by enemy forces.[1] They are used for more mundane purposes by the protoss, such as boosting their psionic signals to communicate with psionic terrans, with a range that can reach over half a planet with clarity.[3]
