A rush in an RTS involves quickly building a number of cheap units early in the game with the idea of destroying your opponent quickly and making an easy win.

They are generally risk affairs, since failure usually makes you vulnerable and open to attack.

This can also lead to mind games where if your opponent thinks you are going to rush and you don't you will have a large advantage since you haven't wasted time and money building defenses.
