Sentries are a zerg breed, sighted on the edges of zerg hive clusters.

Sentries were approximately twenty feet tall, and looked similar to a terran eye. They were held aloft by massive tendrils which crisscross like spider webs, which allow it to be suspended from archways or other nearby formations. Jim Raynor encountered one on Char, and speculated they served to alert the hive cluster of approaching intruders.

Notes

Sentires are possibly made to be an in-universe manifestation of the portrait of the Overmind in StarCraft, as their description matches the Overmind's eyeball appearance.
