The Shock Division is an elite siege tank unit of the Terran Dominion Armed Forces. During the Second Great War, they served in Arcturus Mengsk's Royal Guard.[1]

History[]

When Sarah Kerrigan and her resurgent Swarm invaded Korhal in 2505, Shock Division participated in the Dominion's unsuccessful efforts to stop her from destroying the planet's Drakken defense network[1] and the Metis facility.[2]

Shock Divisions later attempted to defend Korhal Palace from the zerg and their Raider allies. During the battle, Shock Division accompanied Alpha Squadron's elite battlecruisers, and later the Odin, in separate, failed attempts to destroy the Hyperion. Ultimately the Swarm and the Raiders triumphed over the Royal Guard and ended Mengsk's reign.[3]

Co-op Missions[]

Shock Division siege tanks can be built by Arcturus Mengsk in Co-op Missions. They are powerful Royal Guard that can be to be carried by imperial intercessors while in siege mode. While carried, Shock Division can attack air units instead of ground units. When imperial intercessors carrying Shock Companies are destroyed, the tank drops to the ground. With the Smart Servos upgrade, these tanks can siege and unsiege instantly.

At Rank 1, Shock Division stun their targets for a second with each attack. At Rank 2, their sight and attack range increased by 2 when in siege mode. At Rank 3, their splash damage increased by 40%.

Shock Company cannot heal themselves, thus changing Dominion troopers to Dominion laborers on the frontline after a battle will keep their health up after a large battle.[4]

Royal Guard of the Dominion

Killing enemy units grants experience to nearby Royal Guards. If there are no nearby Royal Guards when an enemy is killed, the experience is instead split between all Royal Guards in the mission. Experience allows the unit to gain Rank, which improves its damage, armor, health and unlock new abilities or passive bonuses.

  • Rank 1: Gain Shock and Awe ability.
  • Rank 2: Increases vision and attack range by 2 in Siege Mode.
  • Rank 3: Increases the splash range of sieged attacks by 40%.

Principal Proletariat: Increases the gained experience by 100%.

Usage
Passive
Notes

The leveling up mechanics works as follows:

  • When an enemy unit is killed, 100 (200 with Principal Proletariat) experience per supply cost of the unit killed is "dropped".
  • If the unit is a non-Heroic unit with 0 supply cost, it will drop no experience.
  • If the unit is a Heroic unit with 0 supply cost, it will drop 800 (1600 with Principal Proletariat) experience.
  • Dropped experience is equally split among all eligible units (Royal Guard, not at max rank) within 15 range of the unit killed.
  • If there are no eligible units within 15 range of the unit killed, all eligible units on the map get an equal split of the dropped experience.
  • Once a Royal Guard unit has reached maximum rank, it is removed from the pool of eligible units so as to not waste experience.

Mastery: +0.5 (+1 with Principal Proletariat) experience per supply (+4 (+8 with Principal Proletariat) experience on Heroic unit with 0 supply cost) per Royal Guard Experience Gain Rate mastery point. Up to a maximum 115 (230 with Principal Proletariat) experience per supply (920 (1840 with Principal Proletariat) experience on Heroic unit with 0 supply cost).
