Smartcasting is a micromanagement tool in StarCraft II. When multiple units are given the same spell order, only one of them will comply, preventing a serious waste of spellcaster energy.
List of Smartcast Abilities
Not all unit abilities are subject to smartcasting.
For instance, the stalker's Blink ability does not use smartcasting. When a group of stalkers are ordered to Blink to an area, all the stalkers will blink.

- 250mm Cannons (thor)
- Any production structure building a unit
- Chrono Boost (nexus)
- Nuke (ghost and spectre)
- Force Field (sentry)
- Graviton Beam (Phoenix)
- Guardian Shield (sentry)
- Terran Infestation (infestor)
- Irradiate (science vessel)
- Psionic Lash (spectre)
- Psionic storm (high templar)
- Scanner sweep, Calldown: MULE, and Calldown: Supplies (orbital command)
- Snipe (ghost)
- Transfusion (queen)
- Yamato cannon (battlecruiser)
- Zerg unit transformations
