Sovereign Battlecruisers are exclusive to Matt Horner in Co-op Missions. They are tougher than regular battlecruisers, and can be called down from the Dominion starport anywhere there's vision. With their ATX laser batteries equipped, they can fire while moving.
They can be upgraded to change its weapons to a a Mini Yamato Gun, dealing heavy damage to larger targets like buildings, hybrids and other high value key targets with a reasonable rate of fire for a large weapon. The Mini Yamato Gun sports a significant increase of DPS compared to the laser batteries (100 vs 78, 130 vs 104 fully upgraded, its roughly comparable to 2.5 weapon upgrades) as well as the important advantage of bypassing armor due to the fact that the damage is frontloaded into a single huge weapon compared to the fast trickle of the batteries. However, the Mini Yamato Gun may not fire on the move and is also prone to dealing overkill damage due to its much slower attack speed.
Sovereign battlecruisers can switch between the two modes to cater to different enemy types, making them more versatile than standard battlecruisers. They can also use Tactical Jump from the start, unlike the other Horner ships which require research to do so.
The unit is available from level 1. While players at level 1 do not get the research benefits of the fusion core (such as the Mini-Yamato reactor research nor the ability to upgrade their Galleons), it is still worth building one to unlock this unit as other gas-heavy units are limited. The battlecruiser can be a useful gas dump that requires minimal repair micro, until Endurance Training is provided at level 11.

Sovereign Battlecruiser weapons systems are upgraded to a powerful particle cannon that deals 200 damage per attack.
Warps the Sovereign Battlecruiser to the target location. Vanishes from the map and is invincible while warping. Does not require vision of the target area.
