The StarCraft II beta opt-in was a method for selecting StarCraft II beta test candidates through the new battle.net system.

The new version of battle.net launched on March 19, 2009. It offered a beta opt-in.[1]

As of May 6, 2009 the beta opt-in page had been updated. Beta candidates could download a program which will scan their system and determine if it's capable of dealing with StarCraft II beta.[2] As of May 27th European users were able to opt-in.[3]

After the initial wave of invites, which included both those who opted-in and those who received beta keys,[4] more players were added due to use drops or the need to test more users.[5]
