The super warp gate is a non-buildable protoss structure in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty campaign.
It is in three of Zeratul's missions. In "Whispers of Doom", it is used to warp in stalkers to assist Zeratul.[2]
In "Echoes of the Future", it is placed out of reach and cannot be seen or used by the player.[3]
In "In Utter Darkness", it is used to warp in the heroes and their unit counterparts.[4]
Physically, it is smaller than a warp gate, but can create almost any protoss unit. It does not need to be placed in a power field to operate. Unlike the warp gate, it does not have a cool-down time. None of the units created require minerals or vespene gas (the structure actually pay the price to compensate it), but its controller must still must have enough psi.
All units warped in must still be placed within a psi matrix.
In Co-op Missions, the structure got a lot of buttons not tied directly to an ability, thus having no effect by themselves, but they may be used through triggers maybe, in which case they would spawn various heroes and special units.
Notes[]
- The super warp gate doesn't have a button to turn into a gateway.
- The super warp gate got a misleading "Blink" button that allow to access the 2nd page of buttons. In Co-op Missions, there's a 3rd page behind a "Warp In Purifier Units" button, though the units are not only purifier ones.[1]
- The super warp gate does not count as a gateway or a normal warp gate for tech purposes. This means if a player only have a super warp gate and doesn't have a normal one, they cannot create any structures that require gateways, such as a cybernetics core.
- This structure is found in the map editor.
