"Suspicious Minds" is a terran track composed by Mark James and performed by The Bourbon Cowboys[1] and Chris Metzen.[2]
History[]
"Suspicious Minds" is an old Earth folk tune, considered a traditional song in the Koprulu sector. A remake was done by The Bourbon Cowboys as an anti-Dominion propaganda song. According to music critic Humbert H., it is a song that remains true to the values of the band, specifically bourbon and white-hot hatred toward the Terran Dominion, the latter subsequently banning the song. The song was later added to the album Revolution Overdrive: Songs of Liberty, compiling the greatest anti-Dominion songs of the sector.[2]
Lyrics[]
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
So if an old friend I know
Stops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?
Here we go again
Asking where I've been
You can't see these tears are real, I'm crying
(Yes I'm crying)
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
Oh, let our love survive
I'll dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die
When honey, you know I've never lied to you
Mmm, yeah, yeah
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
Game Effect[]
The track can be played by the Hyperion's jukebox.[1]
Notes[]
Revolution Overdrive: Songs of Liberty also contains a "Black Label" version of the song, with a slower tempo and Chris Metzen singing with less musical accompaniment.[2]
