There's a reference to Shadow of the Xel'Naga and a power vacuum... but I don't get it. Is that the right reference? PsiSeveredHead 15:17, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

The BW manual could be used as a reference in a sense, but it really only focusses on the protoss and terrans, only making it clear that the zerg continue to rampage after the WOvermind's destruction. SotXN fleshes out the nature of the power vacuum more with Kerrigan's exposes, how she has to "pick up the pieces." I considered it a more appropriate reference.--Hawki 20:14, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Theoretically, the earliest that Gilson could have broken away from the Swarm would be after the destruction of the original Overmind. A power vacuum existed within the Zerg Swarm,[1] one which had the Zerg running rampant.[2] Although Infested Kerrigan eventually rose to the position of ruler of the Zerg, it is unlikely that the extent of her control is on the same level of the Overmind, thus allowing Gilson's independence.
