"A xel'naga temple, unlike any I had ever seen. It was called Erris, but its location was kept a secret from us."

- A high templar recounting his captivity in the temple(src)

The Temple of Erris was a xel'naga temple situated on Atrias, used as a Tal'darim stronghold. It was here that Amon was revived.

History[]

In 2506, the Tal'darim began abducting members of the Templar Caste, holding them at the temple before handing them over to Moebius Foundation forces that had been enthralled by Amon's hybrids. Daelaam forces under the command of Prelate Zeratul and Praetor Talis rescued the captive Templar, and traced their captors to Atrias.[1]
They set up a beachhead on the temple grounds and commenced an assault. The Tal'darim put up a defense, but were unable to prevent Zeratul and a band of stalkers from gaining entrance.[2]
Highlord Ma'lash ordered the accessway sealed as he contacted Amon.

The Tal'darim counterattacked, and the Daelaam were hard-pressed to keep them at bay. Zeratul and his forces made their way through the temple, taking out its particle cannons and allowing reinforcements to be dropped in. As battle waged, Amon, conversing with Ma'lash through a Void catalyst, ordered the Tal'darim to make ready for war. Zeratul and his forces were able to destroy the catalyst, severing the Tal'darim from their master, but it was to little avail, as the temple began collapsing all around them. Zeratul and his forces fled, Amon mocking them all the while. In a last stand, Talis and her remaining forces bought Zeratul the time he needed to escape to deliver a warning to Hierarch Artanis of the coming invasion.[3]

Trivia[]

The temple's name may be a reference to Eris, the Greek goddess of discord.
