Biography

Tom Omer is a native to Centerville, Shiloh and friends with Jim Raynor. He enlisted in the Confederate Marine Corps to fight the Kel-Morians in the Guild Wars.

Early Life

Omer and Raynor went to school together. They joked around together and challenged each other to picture assembly puzzle games on their fones. He was one of the first in his group of friends to join the Marine Corps. He had feelings for Anna Harper, a cheerleader from school, despite the fact that she "did not know he existed." He watched Raynor get into a fight with Hank Harnack over a traffic dispute while waiting in line for vespene gas rations.

Recruitment and the Pre-Boot Camp

A swearing-in ceremony took place at the courhouse in Centerville to serve as a public initiation for Omer, Raynor, and the other new recruits from the town. The oath was recited by Judge Guthrie, the serving judge of the town, to which the recruits repeated. After the ceremony, Raynor, Omer, and the other recruits boarded buses to travel to the neighboring towns where more recruits would be picked up and shuttled to shelter. However, Omer avoided sitting with Raynor once he realized Harnack, also a new recruit, was stirring up more trouble with Raynor.

The buses dropped the recruits off at the upper school gymnasium in Burroughston. Corporal Timson, the leading officer of the recruits at the time, revealed that this was where they would be staying for the night and told them that it was "paradise" compared to the accommodations available at the boot camp. Omer was nowhere to be found as conflict continued to escalate between Raynor and Harnack.

Aboard the troopship Hydrus and on their way to Turaxis II, the recruits formed up their own temporary encampments in Hold Two. Not long into the ship's voyage, Raynor and Omer heard an announcement over the PA system that there was a security breach in the hold and criminals that were being transported on the ship as well had escaped. They heard loud shouting coming from deeper in the camp and discovered Harnack was in a fight, surrounded by six criminals. Raynor, going to Harnack's aid, has Omer hold his stuff. As Omer watched, he made bets with surrounding recruits on the fight, betting on his friend and Harnack. The fight was over and the criminals were subdued. Omer came running over to the two recruits, showing them the money he had won and split it with them. The three spent their remaining time on the Hydrus together, jokingly reflecting on why they had formed their newfound friendship with Harnack.

Once above the surface of Turaxis II, the recruits were shuffled into dropships to take to the ground. Omer, Raynor, and Harnack were all assigned to Daddy's Girl, a dropship with a pilot who boasted as being the "best pilot in the Confederacy]]. During the flight, the ship was attacked by Kel-Morian Hellhounds and the dropship made a crash-landing on the surface. Omer feared for their lives, but Raynor told him to shut up. The majority of the passengers survived, with the only two casualties being the pilot, whom was decapitated, and Santhay, a recriut whom died of smoke inhalation.
