Editing and the switch parser[edit source]

I'm leaving the information I gathered while learning how to edit stuff here. It is about the switch parser.

Until now I've used it like

{{#switch: {{{1}}}
|value1=text_if_value1
|value2=text_if_value2
|text_if_no_value_or_another_value

or

{{#switch: {{{parameter_name}}}
|value1|#default=text_if_value1_or_none_of_values_listed
|value2|value3=text_if_value2_or_value3

There was one limitation though, but I may have found the solution (not tested here yet):

{{#switch: {{{1}}}
|{{{1}}}=text_if_value_not_defined
|value1=text_if_value1
|value2|value3=text_if_value2_or_value3
|text_if_value_defined_but_none_of_listed

Will have to look into it, could fix some things here and there.

Last time I tried all this, it failed miserably. Maybe because the usual switchs used here use something like {{#switch:{{lc:{{{1}}}}} rather than {{#switch:{{{1}}}, and I didn't use it the right way.
The issue is that that structure would obviously not show if it work properly in a preview (because the general default would have priority over the wrong syntax). I'm not sure if I will ever try again, didn't refind a good need for it since then.

Got it right this time.
I wanted to display empty spaces in Primal Combat template only when having a parameter, and not on the default view, and the code
{{#switch:{{lc:{{{1}}}}}|{{lc:{{{1}}}}}=|<br><br>}}
made it work as wanted. Woohoo!

A later try didn't work the way I expected it to. Need to be careful with this stuff :(

Are coop commander strategies obsolete?[edit source]

In the recent patches, the coop AI received huge boosts, now mastering abilities they didn't, mastering more what they already could use, using stronger formations, rebuilding destroyed bases, and other changes...
If to that we add the prestiges that can change a lot the gameplay of the commanders, I wonder if the current strategies sections should not somehow at least be marked as obsoletes/based on an older version of the game?

edit: I was thinking of using a variant of Template:Dev (replacing the last "is" by "may be")? Thoughts?
